For The First Time!!!! (Part-4)

I thought to completely skip that idiot till our presence there. He entirely fooled Ryan. “As a Matchmaker he has to show the better profiles and alliances to his client Ryan. But this bloody has hided everything and played a drama by bringing Ryan to his house for his own sister’s sake without intimating properly. We didn’t know that we came to his house and that too for his sister till it was revealed out accidentally by his father. We even never thought like this. He planned and executed neatly to bring Ryan to his house without his knowledge” I stunned.

Still I didn’t get any clue why he hadn’t provided Ryan the photograph and marriage profile.

“Ryan! you such a crap….!”
“You should have been keen in getting the maximum details from the broker. You deceived yourself by your poor careless attitude”, I yelled meekly at him.

“What can I do? Like you, I too came to know just a minute ago about this Bastard. He is a cheap humbug! Very cunning and criminal too”, Ryan certified the then broker and broker cum girl’s elder brother now. I acted as though I didn’t hear his words to humiliate him.

“Ryan! you will never change. What is wrong in admitting and realizing one’s mistake at least at situation like this?” Go to hell you bastard!” I said to him.

He should seriously feel insulted due to his poor careless attitude which the broker too took as an advantage to fool him.

But the broker used to see here and there and move his legs this way and that but definitely not even a single glance at us who exactly sat opposite to him. If unknowingly he saw us he immediately put his head down and start researching the floor. I was losing my temperament on seeing him head down in front of us without saying anything. I tried hard to control myself not to create any embarrassing moment.

So……..,? we were interrupted by the old man. “We have had your photograph, Marriage Profile and Horoscope from your parents”, he said.

“Where are you working?” he asked Ryan. I thought that the old man started interviewing Ryan and in fact I felt for Ryan for his miserable situation.

“I am working in BMS located at Udyog Vihar” Ryan replied uninterestingly.

The old man asked, “How long you have been in Gurgaon?”

“For the past six years”, answered Ryan.

“Is it a permanent job?” questioned the old man.

“Yeah it is”, Ryan said

“You have one younger brother and two younger sisters, what are they doing?” old man again.

“Brother is working as a Marketing Manager in Chennai. Sisters are college goers”, Ryan said.

After a short break, Ryan asked the parents about girl’s education.

Silence prevailed for a while and was broken by the younger son. He turned to Ryan side and said that she has mere completed her schooling.

“What…..? Isn’t she even a graduate…...?” I said to myself. I got mad after hearing this.
Since I imagined an Engineering graduate would be chosen by his parents, I was flabbergasted.

“What is this?” I whispered Ryan.

“How could I know?” Ryan reacted.

“Yes! you are right. How you could know, as actually you aren’t related to this”
“Stupid! You deserve this. No clarity, No Plan, Damn it”, I meekly screamed and stung him.

I pricked Ryan to cut the conversation as it seemed that the girl’s parents were bewildered by our discussion.

“Any thing serious…?” old man asked us.

Nothing! we both withered a smile. In fact we both tried to show that we were normal.

Ryan said, “That bastard broker cum elder brother planned, lied and mislead me. He fooled us really yaar”.

“Us…..? Truly speaking He fooled you”, I stung him again.

We both looked at that broker cum elder brother. He was sitting there still his head down.

“And also I think the profile which he gave earlier might be the detailed one” I laughed.

Yeah! May be! Ryan was totally upset. His face became dark because of continuous deceit and disappointments.

“Get up yaar!!! We will move from here”, Ryan said.

“What are you saying man? Are you Mad? What you will say them?” I shouted at him angrily.
My rage changed his idea to move out immediately from there.

“Ok! We have come here to see the girl. Will see and move immediately”, Ryan reacted.

“I think they didn’t aware about their son’s plan and all”, I said to Ryan.

“It’s so important now”, he shouted me.

I laughed and loved to see Ryan got annoyed. I enjoyed little bit too. People like Ryan would rather like to have their own experience than getting lesson from others.

“It’s purely Ryan’s failure to manage the things”, I said to myself.

Again the hall was resounded to a pin drop silence.

“Are you working with him?” the old man asked me.

“No, he is working with some other company in Delhi” Ryan replied before me.

He asked again me, “Are you married?”

This time too Ryan said, “Not yet”.

“It’s better to let Ryan takes care of all his queries”, I thought myself happily.

But my happiness was lived very shortly by the old man. He started asking about my complete family details; thus, my entry was forced into that conversation.

“What about your Family, Father and Mother?” asked the old man.

I am actually belonging to Chidambaram, a temple town in Tamil Nadu.

“My father and mother are working in the same town”, I replied briefly.

“Are you only son to your parents”, old man jumped to next question.

I got irritated this time; nevertheless, I replied him with smiling face.

“I think they like you very much, they will approach you for their youngest daughter”, Ryan grinned.

“Shut up! You idiot!” I shrilled.

“Ok, We have planned to go for shopping after this visit, so it would be better if we start moving now”, Ryan rescued me before he leaps to another one.

Ryan tried to make the old man to understand and call his daughter. I was also waiting to see the girl for whom we have been traumatized mentally for the past four hours by her criminal brother.

Ok! The old man shook his head up and down and whispered his younger son. His younger son got up and went to the room at our right hand side. He came back after few seconds with an envelope in his hands. He gave it to his father.

We weren’t as such curious to know what that was.

His father opened the envelope and it had some photographs of medium sized. He took four out of them and gave it to Ryan.

“These are the photos of our girls. It’s for you to show your parents”, the old man said. “It’s also there my youngest daughter photographs”, he said seeing and smiling at me.

We were totally puzzled. I asked Ryan,” Won't they call their daughter over here now?”

“How do I know”, Ryan yelled at me meekly. “But it’s evident that they are expecting you to say 'yes' to their youngest daughter”, Ryan grinned again.

I took least care his grin. This scumbag always uses to trap others when he is trapped.

“Then why that old man shook his head well as if he understood that we are asking him to call his daughter”, I questioned him again.

But Ryan stared at the photos in his hands.

I just pat him back and asked, “Is girl so beautiful that you got standstill?”.

“Hey! Just shut and get up”, he slapped me by his words.

The old man then gave Ryan one more envelope and said, “Horoscopes of my daughters”.

“Ok! we are moving now. Thank you very much”, Ryan received and said without seeing the envelope.

“You haven’t told your opinion yet”, the old man humbly asked Ryan in a mild voice.

“I will show the photograph and horoscope to my parents and they will contact you soon”, Ryan replied him.

Still the broker was speech less and his head down.

And we started moving; his younger brother came with us up to main road to send off.

He stopped a Pat-Pat RTV for us and we got into that comfortably and said bye to him. It was already 7 past 30 and RTV was moving steadily. We were muted for next 10 minutes.

After a deep silence Ryan said,” Don’t share this with our friends”.

“Yes! I understand the gravity of this situation. I will not”, I said to him.

I told Ryan, “I am still clueless why they haven’t shown their girl to us”.

“No! They have shown”, Ryan said firmly.

I astonished and asked “What?”

‘The one who served us the snacks is the girl; she is the one in the photos too given by her father”, he said.

“Who….?”

“The one served us snacks???”

"Oh! My God!"

I was almost gone faint as I thought she is a maid girl....!!!!!!

For The First Time!!!! (Part-3)

I was interrupted by Ryan, “As you know my parents are seriously looking for a girl for me, I got a call from my father last week. He told me that he received a girl’s profile through one of his friends. Girl’s family was told and given about my details including my photograph”, he stopped temporarily.

Ryan continued, “Father also added, as they were aware of your being in Gurgaon, they invited you to visit their house and have few words with them”.

“Initially I was confused but later astonished by my father’s reply that he has not even seen girl’s photograph and her profile. Profile too not detailing her much”, He said.

I said, “Then what is pushing you to go like this? We can wait until they provide us her photograph and profile”.

He said, “I asked that person: a Keralite, who is working as a marriage broker here, whose contact details were provided me by my father’s friend just 10 days ago to contact and ask for the details which I need”.

Ryan continued, “During initial conversation he said that he would bring those things to my flat but he didn’t; requested me almost thrice to visit the house as per their invitation. Also he insisted me to see and talk to the girl directly during my visit. I totally disagreed and asked him to bring the profile and photograph; he has agreed but not given yet”.

“We will demand again and get the profile and photograph first”, I said.

“I too thought like that till this morning. Also, I skipped broker’s continuous requests to visit there without seeing the profile and photograph at least once. But last Saturday I got a call from the family and they invited me to their house. But I skipped them too by lying that I have to go Mumbai for an official visit on that day”, Ryan completed.

“They called and invited me again today morning; this time I accepted their invitation in an unavoidable scenario. But last Saturday I was not prepared to face. After continuous compulsions from both the ends I today decided to go. For that I needed a victim, who can be better than you”, he laughed as if he cracked a joke of millennium.

I stared at him but very much ready to have a new experience for the first time in life. I was excited to see a girl belonging to Kerala. I was also thinking to impress the family. Many similar scenes from some Tamil movies swayed across my mind, especially the sequence in Baghyraj film called “Thooral niinu pochchu! I was totally delighted.

Meanwhile, he changed many costumes and asked my opinion too. Finally he selected a shirt /jean combo and wore woodlands. That jean is too tight and seemed that he wore a girl’s one. I expressed my dislike over his selection; he seriously looked into my disliking by asking me many times.

As I was also in a mood to impress the family, I got ready by just refreshed.
He finally got ready with the same costumes which I showed my disliking earlier.

“This is the only jean I am having washed and cleaned” he said, but that blue colored jean too looked grey-a typical example of Ryan’s consciousness over cleanliness. If some one asks him to pay attention on his clothes he will readily shut his mouth by saying,” it happens in bachelor’s life man! It means according to him bachelor phase of life can have all sorts of excuses.

As his bike was broke down we have to go by “pat-pat” RTV again. We started moving. I asked him whether he informed them about our arrival.

“Yeah! Yeah! They were well informed. It’s a landmark called Rana’s hospital and they will be there to pickup us”, he replied. We got down and were taken to that girl’s house by the broker after waited for almost 15 minutes in front of the hospital.

The broker was a very lean guy at his verge of 30; casually wore and having a guilty face. He talked with Ryan and they conversed very meekly with each other. I was not eager to hear their conversations. Ryan introduced me to him as his friend working in Delhi. That broker spoke in broken Tamil and a neat Malayalam.

“I have asked you the profile and photograph; you haven’t provided me still”, Ryan questioned him. The Broker replied, “Come, see and talk to the girl in direct”. He didn’t answer Ryan’s query directly; instead he proposed a new way. “You bastard”, I said to myself.

After 10 minutes of walk we were taken into a house. It was a two storied building, having four separate flats. The entire area was foul smelled. There was a narrowed stair case. I saw a girl who smiled at us while our entry at the first floor. We were greeted and received by an old couple and a young boy at his late 20s, “May be girl’s parents and brother”, I thought myself.
Room was not that much torched even though the tube light was energized. We were asked to sit. We sat and started conversation. The broker introduced us old couple as girl’s parents. The broker became mute afterwards, “He is doing his duty correctly by allowing the two sides to speak directly” I thought.

The old couple was silent initially and the silence was broken by the old man. On later stages the old woman also used to speak and converse with Ryan and me. Both of them were fluently speaking Tamil.

“My wife is a Tamilian belonging to Karur district of Tamilnadu, I worked in Chennai for more than 10 years. I belong to Alapey of Kerala. We are having six children: two sons and four daughters. Two elder daughters who were already married, now we are looking for third daughter and that is our family photograph”, the old man said and showed a family photograph hanging on the wall.

As the hall where we sat was poorly illuminated we couldn’t grasp immediately the faces in the portrait. The old man inferred our difficulty in identifying the faces in the photograph and asked that young boy to illuminate the tube light on that side too. “He is my younger son working in Honda as an Engineer at “Manesar” ”, he added and the boy threw a warm smile at us.
After lighted the other side tube light, it looked better and enough to identify the images in the group photo.

“From left, the two standing couples are my In-Laws with my elder daughters respectively; among them the first one is settled at Ahemedabad and second daughter is settled at Trivandrum. Next to them are my younger son and my daughter-in law, next to them are my two younger daughters and my elder son”, he gave the introduction in a speedy manner as if he was in a hurry to catch a flight.

We couldn’t recognize the younger daughters and elder son’s face properly as the images itself looked like blurred.

I said to that young boy, “you look too short in the photograph”. Everybody withered a readymade smile and I liked to say that “it’s not mandatory to show your smile for each and every non senses expressed and delivered by the boy side”.

Ryan asked,” Where your elder son is and what he is doing?”

The old man replied and showed his hands towards the broker, “He is our elder son”

“Can’t you recognize him in the photograph? He is my elder son was working in Orchid Chennai as Shift In-Charge and left the job just a year ago. Now he is doing the Marriage linking service by his own”, the old man bombed us cruelly.

We never expected this from the old man. We both were felt like nailed at our secret organ. This Bastard broker has not even revealed that he was urging Ryan to visit his house; for his sister. We got wild on him. He dropped his head down while we saw him. He didn’t even attempt to say anything.

“What?” Ryan shouted. I realized the situation and to make him calm I pressed his hand to see me. “Don’t you know that?” the old man asked us.

“Yeah! Yeah! We knew it. He is joking”, I lied. To avoid unnecessary hassles in that spot we decided to maintain the hidden fact and drama created by their elder son cum broker as secret with ourselves. My head started aching on repeatedly thinking about broker’s betrayal.

As we were bombarded by the drama created by their son we were dumb for a while. I observed that our silence was creating some noises in that hall; I pinched Ryan to reply his versions for the old man’s queries. Ryan was replying without any interests and trying to show that nothing was happened. Meanwhile a maid girl came & smiled at me and served us soft drinks and some home made eatables. I was not in a mood to take any stuff. The foul smell prevailing all around the building enhanced my head ache in addition to the feeling of being deceived.

Clean silence prevailed after the old man’s queries completion. Still, that “bastard” broker has not raised his head and said anything to us.

For The First Time!!!! (Part-2)

“Paalam Bent” is the entrance of Delhi-Jaipur Express Highway from Delhi.
This route number 764 is always busy throughout the year between initial and final destinations from “Nehru Place to Najafgarh”. Luckily on that day I got a chance to stand and travel without much hassles.

Ryan called again at 4:30 pm while I got down at the stop. I was raged this time and thought of skipping the call, but changed my mind and attended his call.

“Where are you?” he asked me.
“Hey! I reached “IFFCO chowk”, will reach out there within 10 minutes”, I lied. Nothing would happen if I would have said the truth. Still I lied. I don’t know why I do some things, sometime. I never dug for reasons also.

My father uses to say the world has every answer to your every question. If one tries to dig out, he will definitely stop somewhere, where the riddle is released. But it depends on one’s necessity to do; to explore.

“You rhyme the same from 3.30 onwards” he kidded me.

“Be quick we have no time at all”, he urged me.

Ok, I said and disconnected the line-got irritated by his urgency.

“All because of your loneliness”, I cursed myself.

I was still waiting for a Cab or DTC bus to reach IFFCO which normally takes 15-20 minutes from “Palam bent”. I really like the very short term journey from this bent to IFFCO as it’s through India’s best route so far I have seen. Many a time I preferred cabs to DTC as many of the cabs are Air conditioned. Though that was in the middle of March; which is normally not that much hotter even, I was standing there to get a cab. I got one after waiting for few minutes & very fortunately it was Air conditioned too.

This journey covers some of Giant Hotels in Delhi, Glittering Shopping Malls including Asia’s one of the biggest, Delhi-Haryana Toll Plaza and major MNC’s corporate offices. The transit at night will be much pleasant than one during daytime. Finally after a fine 15 minutes I landed at IFFCO-a big junction point which diverts the traffic to Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan and viceversa.
I crossed the road and waited for an RTV alias “Pat-Pat gaadi”-a three wheeler which usually looks bigger in size than Autos and can accommodate comfortably 10 people. Through Bata chowk I finally reached Sector-14 main gate.

It was 5.10 pm when I reached Ryan’s apartment. Ryan smiled at me was standing outside his flat.

“Lazy, took 2 hours to reach here from Munirka??” he said.

“I immediately started from my room when I received your call first time itself, certainly it will take time as I have to hitchhike three modes of vehicles”, I replied

“Just wait a while I will take bath and we’ll start move then”, he giggled.

“You Idiot, then why you forced me like anything without being ready?” I raged over him.

He didn’t even listen to my words and showed any seriousness over my angry. Its better not to kindle much as he will never care for anything, I said to myself.

“What is the plan now?” I asked him.

“I will definitely tell you, just wait a moment”, He said and went to take bath.

I was not irritated as me too need some rest; after that hitchhike I was also not in a mood to start immediately again.

This is 974, Sector-14, where my very much enjoyed, entertained Delhi days started. During my initial days in Delhi I used to visit Sector-14 every week ends. Those moments with Mahi, Ram, Ryan, Jay are still green in my memories. Especially the time spent with Ryan and other friends always remarkable.

They were stayed there for more than 4 years. I started masticating my past days here in Gurgaon; which was disturbed by the sound of Ryan’s electrical air dryer. He reached the hall where I sat and asked me, “Do you know where we are planning to go?”

“That’s what I have been asking you from the very beginning”, I said

“You will not believe if I tell the story”, he bashed like a girl. He started speaking to me by not seeing me. “Oh! God! What’s happening?” I wondered.

“See Ryan I am just here to eradicate my weekend loneliness, for that it least bothers me for what you have called me here”, I said to myself.

But for the namesake I kept my face like so much excited to know his reason and asked, “tell me the story first, then I’ll decide to believe r not”.

“Ok! Let me reveal it, we are going to see a girl for me”, He told me by looking at the wall side.
Whaaaaat! I yelled and asked him “Did you call me for just net surfing?”

“Net surfing? What do you mean? “, he questioned me seriously.

"I mean searching a girl through matrimony", I replied him.

"Na.. Na..", he stopped me there.

“Really we are moving to see a girl for me, a family is waiting for us for our formal visit to see their girl”, he said it bashfully.

I was little bit shocked now and said, “Really, don’t kid me yaar”.

“It’s true man! What do I get if I lie?” he shouted at me.

“Cool! It’s a family belonging to Kerala settled in Gurgaon for the past 20 years”, he added.
I got froze by his firmness, now; I stunned and got electrified by his statement. I can value his idea of not sharing this thing with other friends but I couldn’t understand the gravity and actual sense behind this formal visit to girl’s home without consulting his parents too.

My conscience alarmed me of getting ensured the loose ends before enter into that completely.

For The First Time!!!! (Part-1)

It was a shock to me. Literally I took a very long time to dry out myself from that aghast. Still whenever I think of that day’s incidents I used to experience all sort of feelings like happiness, disappointment, confused, fear & so on.

I just want to share the story of a day-not even a day, precisely just 4-5 hours of incidents I and Ryan (name changed)  faced. I have no intention to hurt anyone across the boundaries especially my “Kerala and Keralites” as the incidents which I am going to narrate has somewhat linked with a Family belonging to “Kerala” settled for past 20years in “Gurgaon-The Millennium City of India”.

In fact I admire “Kerala” and my fellow “Keralites” for many things like their rhyming Language, Beautiful girls with sandal streak on their forehead, Challenging the other parts of country by achieving almost 100% literacy where 30-40% is still a dream in many of the other states of our country.

It happened somewhere in the mid of March’10, on a weekend specifically I think on a Saturday. I was just alone in my flat as my room partner had gone “Sharjah”-an official visit.

Rightly saying I hung over with my laptop after had my Lunch. It wasn’t a very enthusiastic weekend & I was just pushing my time like anything as well. I even hadn’t had good enough sleep on previous night as it is my regular habit of celebrating my beginning of every weekend by sleepless Friday night; surely it’s in everyone’s case in bachelor phase of life.

One can understand the height of torturous frustration due to loneliness during my weekends that I spent without speaking a word even. That day too was disgusting & it was just a minute ago Ryan’s call that I realized I haven’t spoken for the entire day. It was just three past twenty minutes when I received his call.

So sub-consciously I was ready for engaging in any sudden plan of outing which may get fixed soon. But I was feeling too laze to get ready due to pre-requisite things like bathing, transit, above all returning back to my flat after 9.00 pm etc…etc…! Still I was willing to move out.

After saw his name in my Handset display, I was delighted and pressed the button to accept the call like a wild beast got a chunky goat to eat after several month of starve; I laughed myself and jubilated.

I can say it was one of the happiest moments of those days. But that happiness was not extended for a long term.

In fact Ryan’s calls normally do not have any preface or postscript but it will have some instructions to follow, that also would directly be conveyed to the person on the other side.

On that day too, I was instructed to start my move to Sector-14, Gurgaon without any formal wishes and communication. It would be a harsh discussion with Ryan for his instruction without any formal wishes if it was some other day and especially when I was not felt the loneliness. Due to my loneliness; I think to term it correctly, I should say –As I felt my loneliness on that Saturday I was not interested in asking him about the introductions and explanations for his Instruction.

But I really dislike the persons, who usually come to the point of discussion quickly without formal wishes like,
Hi! Buddy!
What are you up to?
Have you finished your lunch? Bla..! bla…! bla…!, during conversations.
Also degree of disliking will turn into abusing words if the person on other side with whom I’m talking has called me after a very long gap.
I believe strongly that these sorts of least valued formalities keep our life moving with good attachments and relations with our links.

On these days I thought that they-my friends have started smelling me as a lazy chap; so to make them feel that the thought they have about me is other way round, I planned to start moving quickly. Yeah! I myself too realized many times that my laziness sounds during my weekends loudly.

Meanwhile I was called by Ryan thrice and was urged to reach before 4.30 pm on that day.

I got ready, locked and got down from my flat. While walking down on the street I was alarmed by my sixth sense about my locking the flat. Even though I was conscious about my locking the door, I didn’t have enough faith on myself. So I went back to my room to attend the call of sixth sense.

This is also an usual one that whenever I am in a hurry, I would be intimated by my sixth sense to get ensured my locking the door, but on half of my way most of the times; which, sucks me really. Due to some lessons learnt in past (that's a separate story-will spare in some other occasions) I normally agree with my sixth sense and climb up the stairs to get ensured. It was typical on that day too.

But I know it can be done in a single shot i.e., at the first move itself to avoid all these post ensuring activities. In my case it depends on the significance and my sincerity over the plan or program which makes me mad to be hurry.

Nevertheless, I still attempt to behave normal for any kind of situations to avoid repetitions in my life.

Once I started my move for the second time from my flat, I was stopped by “Yahoo”- a little girl of my neighbor who was a best friend of mine there on those Delhi days. I just pat on her back as she was kidding by not allowing me getting down.

She is a poor girl not having any companion of her age to play- I mean to say, “This type of apartment life nowadays poisonously pick out our children’s capacity of playing”. This paves way to energy starvation of our growing children which ultimately deprive our future generation’s life expectancy.

In Yahoo’s case, I many a time thought of advising my neighbor uncle, a central government employee to give her a sister or brother baby to vanish her idleness. Some months later my thought became true without being shared with uncle as Yahoo’s mother was pregnant.

I was waiting at the “Munirka” bus stop near “Agarwal sweets” to get route number 764 to reach “Palam” bent. I would always chose this route to reach “Gurgaon” rather than through ‘Dhaula kuan”.

After a wait of around 15 minutes I got into a blue line bus which runs between “Nehru Place” and “Najafgarh”.

Here in Delhi some of the routes are leased for certain years to private carriers. Delhi is having four main transit services as far as roadway is concerned, excluding auto services.

1) DTC- Delhi Transport Corporation-The yellow line, Low floor Green, Low floor Red.
2) Private Transport- Authorized by Delhi government-The blue line
3) RTV-Rapid Transit Vehicles for shorter distances.
4) Private Cabs- Un-authorized carriers (but not to worry about authorizations in India)

I even at the time of transit haven’t thought of Ryan’s call and intention. I just stood and stared unintentionally & unknowingly the dirty seat covers of the Blue line. These Blue line services at any route maintain their buses very dirty and the Drivers and Conductors always look very awkward as they least bother about their cleanliness itself.

I was traveling to “Palam” bent which is some sixth or seventh stop from  this “Munirka” without any idea about the thing which is going to happen in my life for the first time in a very near future.
